Reverend Murray G. Martin, Pastor
Pastor Murray G. Martin is a native of Houston, Texas. He is a graduate of Booker T. Washington Senior High School in Houston, TX. He furthered his education by receiving a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Communications from Texas Southern University. He is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity from Houston Baptist University. Pastor Martin was licensed and ordained at Holman Street Baptist Church, by Shepherd-Teacher Manson B. Johnson.
On August 27, 2006 Reverend Martin began his pastorate at Mother Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Bay City, Texas. Under Pastor Martin’s leadership Mother Zion has experienced new life and growth. During his tenure at Mother Zion, Pastor Martin has transitioned a traditional congregation to a progressive, Bible-based, place of worship that is guided by the Holy Spirit and has yet retained its essential historic elements of Baptist governance and beliefs. The impact of his leadership is not limited to the sanctuary, but also reaches to the community. Pastor Martin has been a remarkable source of inspiration to the local community by hosting and leading back to school supply drives, mission outreaches in local apartment complexes, food drives and after school tutoring.
Pastor Martin’s many community appointments and memberships include: Board Member of Rio Colorado Red Cross; President of Greater Ministerial Alliance of Matagorda County; President of NAACP (Matagorda Chapter); Member Colorado Baptist Association; Bay City Police Department Chaplain.
Pastor Martin believes firmly in the biblical truth of Ephesians 3:20, “ Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,” and lives each day claiming, With God all things are possible!
